Mechanical insulation and fire-stopping done right

Mechanical Insulation is a time tested and proven technology.  It is essentially the insulation and jacketing of mechanical systems.  One could make the argument that mechanical insulation is the one thing that goes into a building that starts to pay for itself as soon as the system is activated.  The installation of insulation products immediately saves energy and reduces greenhouse emissions.  So its saves money and our planet.  It is the ultimate green trade.

Mechanical insulation is sometimes referred to as the “forgotten technology” because it is often undervalued and overlooked.  Insulation is applied but rarely engineered.  Insulation specifications over the years have primarily been based upon modification of old documents.  Eco Bay’s team is extremely well versed in insulation theory and obsessed with staying ahead of the latest advancements in both materials and application techniques in order to customize specifications and help our clients determine the best insulation design for their projects.

Fire-stopping is another task that often times falls through the cracks (pun intended).  For years, unprotected or improperly protected penetrations  presented a subject of much concern to the fire-protection community.  In 1996, an electrical fire occurred at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.  Responding firefighters discovered several fires had broken out in five remote locations.  The report on the fire determined that unprotected vertical and horizontal penetrations provided one of the major contributing causes of the rapid, erratic spread of smoke and fire.  For that reason, building codes began to address the mechanical and electrical openings in floors, ceiling and walls to make sure that an uninterrupted fire barrier was installed to maintain the integrity of fire-resistance ratings throughout buildings.

Eco Bay’s Insulation Division is driven by one goal.  To simply be the best.  We understand that our relentless pursuit of that goal is only accomplished by our unwavering commitment to our company culture of professionalism, pride and being proactive.
